Melissa Hurtado has experience working for a world-renowned Washington, D.C. law firm on billion-dollar patent portfolios, trials, and appeals for over 100 client matters. Prior to that, Melissa graduated from Pepperdine University (Malibu, CA) with Research Honors in Political Science in 2016. She received a Conflict Management Certificate from Pepperdine Law in 2015. She currently attends Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, where she is creating a medical device startup through the NUvention: Medical Innovation Program. She is also on Trial Team, the USPTO Patent Application Drafting Competition Team, and the Northwestern Journal of Technology and Intellectual Property, where she will serve as the Managing Executive Editor of the 2021–2022 year. She is passionate about giving back and volunteers with Chicago Legal Aid and the ABA-IPL Women in IP Committee. She is a Southern California currently living in windy Chicago, IL.
